DESIGNED. BUILT. PROVEN. WE WORK AT NANOMETRES WE BUILD INSTRUMENTS

Difficult measurements. Unproven processes. Solutions that can’t be bought.
Ocelot designs, builds and tests the
custom systems your product or process depends on, from prototype to production.

Medtech, Pharma & Biotech, Deep Tech, Advanced Manufacturing. Key components, sub-systems, or turnkey end-to-end systems.

We build the systems that take a product from working once to working every time, with the evidence to satisfy approval and certification.

The very small and the very fast

Ocelot lives with the physics. Sub-micron features, nanosecond events, currents requiring specialist instruments to measure. These scales are familiar to us – we know the physics that governs them, and we have lived the failure modes.

That familiarity is the value. Tolerances stack, errors accumulate, and a handful of parameters may carry the whole error budget. Knowing which ones, and what they are sensitive to, is what makes a product or process repeatable and scalable.

Where our work concentrates

The disciplines we build in

We build across every discipline a system needs. Some clients come to Ocelot for complete systems, built end-to-end. Others bring challenging scoped bodies of work that have stalled inside a larger programme.

Quality isn’t a document.
Verification isn’t a spreadsheet.
Rigour is engineered into every step.

In any high-consequence field evidence is on the critical path to market. You have to prove how your product works, show how you know, and show it holds across instances. That evidence must survive independent review years later. How that evidence will be generated is an engineering problem in its own right, and we design for it from the outset.

Cost of change Time The cost of a change rises steeply depending on when it is found. Concept Design Build Verification Production

Controlled by construction

We work under a structured quality management system, with defined processes for design, review, change control and documentation.

Traceable by design

Requirements, decisions, tests and outputs link back to each other, so the design history holds up under scrutiny.

Objective and quantitative

Our systems are designed to generate objective, repeatable and reviewable data suitable for downstream validation, audit and submission activities.

Built for the reviewer’s eye

Design decisions and documentation anticipate independent review by quality teams, auditors and regulators.

Risk-proportionate rigour

We scale documentation and controls to the system’s criticality. Engineering rigour aligned to intended use and regulatory exposure.

Where we stop

We sign off on what we engineer: the systems we design and build carry our design authority and the evidence behind it. Your product, your processes and your regulatory submissions remain yours. We work alongside your quality, regulatory and safety teams, and we will tell you plainly when something sits outside our scope.

Feasibility Development Verification Validation Production Lifecycle

Ocelot can be engaged at any stage.

Start here

The one-day technical review

One engineer, one day, spent entirely on your problem: architecture options, the technical risks that matter most, measurement and test strategy, manufacturing route, and the most practical next step.

You get a written review at the end of it, yours to keep and to act on with or without us. Fixed price, agreed before we start, no ongoing commitment.

Mode 01

We build it

A complete system, taken away and brought back working: tested, documented and commissioned. Typically one to twelve months. We support what we deliver.

Mode 02

We co-develop

Joint development alongside your engineers, with ownership of defined subsystems and shared technical direction. Your team finishes more capable than it started.

Mode 03

We solve it

A scoped problem with a defined answer. We take it, work it, and return solutions with evidence. Typically days to weeks.

Mode 04

We work in your lab

Instrumentation, custom rigs, prototypes and measurement campaigns for research groups, built for your equipment and your way of working. Scoped and priced for a research budget.

Mode 05

We join your team

Experienced engineering capability embedded in your organisation: a role filled, a function stood up, or senior cover through a critical phase.

Mode 06

We train your team

Training teams to run structured experiments, and establishing engineering norms from design control to drawing standards. Built for university spin-outs, where deep science outpaces industry practice.

An Engineering Design House for High-Consequence Work

Ocelot Solutions is a Brisbane-based engineering design house and technology firm. We work with startups, research groups and established companies to design, build and prove the systems behind their products.

We created Ocelot because we want to see Australian businesses succeed and Australian products make it to market. Engagements are structured around what the business needs, from a single scoped problem through to complete system delivery and embedded engineering support.

Are you a product company or a consultancy?

An engineering services firm. You own the product; we bring the specialist engineering that gets it built, measured and proven.

Can you work across industry sectors?

Yes. Compliance is of paramount importance in the industries we serve, and our engineering is delivered to the standard your sector requires. We work in accordance with the expectations of regulatory bodies (FDA, TGA, etc.), international standards (ISO, IEC, MIL-STD, DEF(AUST), etc.) and industry best practice (ISPE GAMP, etc.), applied where required to the quality framework of your company and industry.

How small a piece of work will you take?

A single review or a two-week feasibility question is a perfectly good place to start, and it is how most engagements begin. It gives you a low-cost read on whether we are worth a larger scope.

What does a first engagement actually cost?

The scoping call costs nothing. Beyond that we work to a written estimate against a published schedule of rates. The one-day technical review is the smallest committed piece of work: fixed price, agreed before we start.

What laboratory techniques do you work with?

SEM, AFM, interferometry, rheology, spectroscopy, high-speed imaging, thermal, hyperspectral, CT and X-ray, among many other benchtop and specialised research instruments. We have worked with these for years and know what each measurement costs in time, sample preparation and confidence.

Do you manufacture?

Not at volume. Ocelot builds custom systems, we design for manufacture, build prototypes, pilot systems, and production systems. Depending on the project and quantity we can facilitate small production runs. For large quantities we hand over to ours, or your chosen manufacturing partner. Systems we design can be instanced: built multiple times, to the same standard, from the same design outputs.

What happens after the system is delivered?

Systems are delivered with full documentation suites and training. Depending on the type of system, the operational environment and contractual agreements, Ocelot can provide ongoing maintenance, calibration, repairs and upgrades.

Who owns the IP?

By default, you do. The product, the IP and the design outputs are yours.

Ocelot takes no equity, royalties or share of your invention. Alternative arrangements exist where the client prefers them, for example where Ocelot retains ownership of a system or platform as part of the delivery model, and these are agreed contractually before work begins.

Can you sign our NDA and handle confidential work?

Yes. Confidentiality, information handling and any conflicts of interest are agreed in writing before work starts.

Why not send this offshore?

For commodity engineering work, offshore is often the right answer, and we will say so. Novel systems are different: when the problem is not yet fully understood, it is very hard to specify, build, test and ship from the other side of the world, and the iteration happens at the bench, not over email.

Ocelot also exists to support the maturation of Australian industry: building local engineering capability, strengthening local supply and industry networks, and keeping the know-how from each programme onshore, inside your team and ours.

Tell us what you’re trying to build

The first call is technical, not commercial. Bring the problem you cannot get past. We will tell you honestly whether it is something we can help with, and roughly what it would take.
